Below is an example of why it's not a good idea to wash, groom, or trim your pets hair near your air conditioner!!!! We had a recent service call for a "no cool" . This was what our service technician found upon arrival. Apparently the home owner had been washing and grooming his dog frequently with the garden hose right near the out side condenser.
With some effort from our technician he was able to get the unit cleaned up. Later he had it was back up and running properly . The unit was staving for air flow due to all the thickly matted animal hair. This is why you should never perform animal grooming near your condenser.
